Eric Trump has sent a poignant message after his father, Donald Trump, was shot in the ear during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“Toughest man I have ever met,” Eric told Page Six of the former president, whom the Secret Service has confirmed is safe and being evaluated at a local medical facility following the incident.

Butler county District Attorney Richard Goldinger confirmed to ABC News that the shooter — who was “on the roof of an adjacent building” — is dead.

At least one rally-goer was killed and another seriously injured.

Nine shots rang out during Donald Trump’s rally on Saturday in Butler Pennsylvania — nearly 35 miles away from Pittsburg. Video shows the former US president ducking for cover before he was surrounded by secret service.

Donald Trump was seen exiting the stage with streaks of blood covering the side of his face as his ear was seemingly hit.

Law enforcement claimed the sniper was positioned hundreds of yards away from the president in a building which was outside of the security cordon.
