Charli xcx Poses With Martin Scorsese, Marc Jacobs & John Cale for Alternate ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ Cover

Fans were surprised when Charli xcx first unveiled the cover of her upcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film, to reveal that there were three people featured on it, and none of them were her. Now, however, she’s shared an alternate special edition version, which actually finds her joining her icons in the frame.

“the special edition cover of Music, Fashion, Film is available now,” the singer wrote on social media, sharing the alternate photo. “i can’t believe this image existssss xx.”

The new artwork looks very similar to the original Music, Fashion, Film cover, with John Cale, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese gathered in the same stark kitchen, staring neutrally into the camera. This time, though, Charli is among them, also dressed in all black and peering at the viewer with an unreadable expression.

The musician-designer-director trio on the main cover serves to represent each of the three words in the album’s title. “I’m not proclaiming by any means that these people are the trinity,” the British hitmaker said in a June interview with Nicky Reardon. “They’re mine … there are a million different versions of this album cover, for me, as well.”

Charli worked with Cale on “House” from this year’s Wuthering Heights soundtrack album. The Velvet Underground trailblazer, however, had never met his counterparts on the album cover until the day of the shoot, telling Rolling Stone in a recent cover story about Charli, “She said she had an idea to run by me. Next thing [I knew], I was on a flight. Ended up in a random kitchen.”

“I just feel really honored to know him,” Charli told the publication at the time. “It’s like, ‘What the f–k?’”

Music, Fashion, Film drops July 24, marking her first studio album since the Grammy-winning Brat, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. One day prior to the alternate cover reveal, Charli unveiled the project’s full tracklist, which features a collaboration with director David Cronenberg.
