Janai Norman wants $3.2M for her New Jersey mansion after her abrupt exit from ‘GMA’

Janai Norman’s run at “Good Morning America” ended without warning last month, and now her New Jersey home is following her out the door.

The former “GMA Weekend” co-anchor has listed her six-bedroom, six-bathroom Montclair estate for $3.2 million, roughly five weeks after her contract was quietly not renewed by ABC. The property hit the market April 30, according to TMZ.

Norman and her husband Charlie paid $2.2 million for the spread back in 2022, making the listing a roughly $1 million markup on their original investment.

Assuming a typical 30-year interest with a 20% down payment, Norman and her husband, had an estimated mortgage of about $13,000 per month.

At 7,719 square feet, the Colonial-style home sits on nearly an acre in one of New Jersey’s most sought-after suburbs, offering direct Midtown train access and sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline from multiple vantage points.

A chef’s kitchen anchors the main floor with a large center island and premium finishes, opening to a sun-drenched dining area. Formal living spaces sit alongside a generous family room, while a dedicated game room and guest suite round out the first floor.

The lower level has been fully finished with a gym and recreation space. Upstairs, the primary suite runs large, with walk-in closets, a private deck overlooking wooded grounds and a spa-calibrated bathroom.

Norman broke into the “GMA” anchor rotation in May 2022 when she and Charlie closed on the property, a move she called a $1 million upgrade from her prior South Orange home, which they sold for $1.27 million at the time.

She joined Whit Johnson and Eva Pilgrim at the weekend desk, a pairing that raised some eyebrows on day one when Johnson quipped on air, “This is like the TV equivalent of putting a ring on it.”

Viewers pushed back hard, with one writing at the time, “Was that already a rude comment coming from Whit? Come on, it’s just her first day!”

Her tenure lasted nearly three years before ABC declined to renew her deal. Norman addressed the exit briefly on social media, writing, “I hoped that we’d have more time, and it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short.”

She noted a consolation in the abrupt departure, saying her weekends are now free to be with her children.

The Montclair listing is priced at the upper end of the local luxury market, targeting buyers drawn to the town’s walkable village retail corridor and its prime transit options.
