Hotel staff discovered Liuzzo’s body at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter hotel on Feb. 7, and his body was later transported back to his native Long Island, N.Y., where a funeral was held about a week later.
“Police impounded extensive drug paraphernalia from the scene,” the report states, noting that his mother added that her late son “was known to use drugs but it was unknown what he used.”
Beatrice, 35, began dating Liuzzo in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 24. Despite the age gap, Beatrice’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, expressed her support for the relationship.

âWe all have our own journeys and have to learn our way but Beatrice is a sensible girl, soon to be 18, with many friends, including Paolo,â she said via a public statement at the time.
Prior to their romance, Liuzzo had been charged with the manslaughter of Jonathan R. Duchatellier, a fellow student at the College of the Holy Cross, after they got into a drunken fistfight.
Attorneys were able to reduce his charges to assault and battery, and Liuzzo served 100 hours of community service; however, when news of his romance with the royal broke, Liuzzo was extradited back to the US for violating his three-year probation.
His probation was extended by six months, and his and the princess’ relationship abruptly ended in 2006.
