Rod Stewart, 79, says he’s aware his ‘days are numbered’: ‘We have all got to pass’

Rod Stewart is spending his golden years in style.
The 79-year-old rock star said he’s aware his “days are numbered,” but he’s not living in fear of death.
“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket,” Stewart told the US Sun on Friday.

âI am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few â probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy,” the rocker, who is married to Penny Lancaster, said.
Though he promised to continue his rock star lifestyle, the “Forever Young” singer acknowledged that he can’t go as hard as he used to in his younger years.
âIâm not like I was in the â70s and â80s and I canât stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show,” Stewart said.

âThe older you get, the more you have to do that. Water has a hell of a lot to do with it. But no, you think I just have water on my rider? Youâre talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show,” he explained.
“There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it.â
Now that he’s survived both prostate and thyroid cancer, Stewart said, “I am more aware of my health now than before.”

âYou should be when you start Âgetting on a bit. Itâs very important. I am a bit of a hypochondriac. I think men in particular should take advantage of all the wonderful Âmedical science out there,” he explained.
âWhen I come back to the UK I am going to have my blood cleaned as Iâve been told it is a real boost to the system.”
But even in his old age, Stewart maintains his pro status and declared he doesn’t need any help from medication to keep his shows entertaining.
âIâm not on any pills. No nothing. Youâve got to remember Iâve been doing this all my life â I donât suffer after a show,” he said. âSometimes I take an anti-inflammatory if my knee is playing up but very rarely. I donât need pills.”
